Bismarckia nobilis in Hayward.

Looks like it is doing well there. Is it in a protected microclimate area?

Not especially Klahanie. Banana's were singed by our Dec 28th frost here too.
They do well in all the cities close to the bay- but not too close to the Golden Gates fog.
They are also a delicacy for gophers and will not take any root disturbance. Transplanting is a nogo!
He's lucky not to be close to the greenbelt...those gophers are never able to make it.

Very impressive Bismarckia for Hayward. I knew they would grow there, though. Bismarckia nobilis is a pretty tough palm.

I foresee many more growing in the East Bay to the South Bay areas. I think I told you I wanted to try one in Fremont when I lived there; however, at the time small trees were a fortune! Now, they so inexpensive for relatively large plants. I guess it's because they're a lot more common. Many nurseries in Northern San Diego County grow them by the thousands, now. I'm think it's because of their beauty and extreme drought tolerance.
