Calliandra haematocephala - Powder Puff Tree

Saw that at the Dry Garden a few years ago. A winter bloomer you said Andy?

I've seen only a few of this species in the Bay Area. It's really tender to cold. Calliandra tweedii is the one that I've seen growing up there more commonly.

Yes, Calliandra haematocephala is definitely a winter bloomer.

That's great fun......pity we cannot grow them here...

It's a fun plant to grow. I had one once. I don't have room for one, though. It's a very common shrub/tree here.
