That's beautiful! I bet the fragrance is overpowering good! I remember this shrub when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've never seen one here in San Diego...it's probably too hot here.

I would have several if I lived where they grow. My dad had one in front of his house in a shady north-side of his house when he lived in San Jose. When it bloomed it had an incredible fragrance. I think it bloomed in late January or February in the SF Bay Area.

I do not know when it started to bloom, probably in that time as it is in full bloom now and some blooms starting to fade. Its is true to its name "Winter Daphne"

Love them (although I haven't got them). They reminds me of a song (having said that, I forgot how it goes).
Just imagining the sweet scent makes me happy; it's the sheer epitome of spring for me :-)
