How pretty......we lost a large Ceanothus, but could have been a lot worse...

I thought the storm only affected the south of England. I didn't know it came as far north.
(We hardly had anything here !)

No damage in our garden, thank goodness.

We found a roof tile and some flashing from around the chimney on the ground. Got off very lightly compared to some folk. I saw a young guy running past at 7am, with a saw in his hand, he joined a couple of others to cut the branches off of a fallen tree which was blocking our road. Lots of fallen trees around Brighton and Hove area :o(

Thanks Hb ... just been along to the next village to ours and saw many tree branches stacked on the grass verges ... also some broken/collapsed fence panels. Calm and sunny today :o)

Just about every Daff was flattened in our garden I'm hoping they will pop up again ... Angela I don't suppose this will help as your Ceanothis is or was a large shrub ,last year I bought a new Ceanothus it somehow became trodden on snapping the stem half way up , as it was new approx 3ft tall and quite spindly we did a first aid job on it joining it together with sticky tape, splints etc. almost like mending a broken leg ,I fully expected the top half to die but its still evergreen and looks very healthy ... ..fingers crossed time will tell ...

Amy, how funny have just done the same to our Golden Showers rose, discovered it had been split down the middle, thanks to Katie!!
Let me know how your Ceanothus fares, unfortunately ours was too large, when we took it out, we found the roots had gone round in circles, causing it to be unstable, an accident waiting to happen!!
Sorry to hear about your daffs, I am sure they will recover....
