Nelly Moser, a pink Clematis with stripes, is flowering now, but all the flowers are green. I think she must be cold.

That is awesome Siris.

We have the same problem with one of our Clematis. very green!!

Really? That's weird (or "natural" perhaps?), having "green" colour instead of pink because of the luck of sunlight. Never heard of that!

TM, the petals are actually sepals, which in most plants are the green whirl on the outside of the coloured petals. My Jackmanii Alba is prone to green colour on its double flowers, most unattractive.

Hi Tommymoo
its not the light its the cold I have a Nelly M that does the same now and again and its always been the flowers lower down that have been green so I honestly thought it was lack of light ....
"If the first flowers of the mid-season group appear distinctly green, it is a sign of having been affected by very cold weather in spring; subsequent flowers will be the 'proper' colour." says Monty Don

Siris and Gnarly G,
Thanks for all your info. Really kind of you two to feed me with the interesting phenomenon. I like Monty Don and his gardening programmes. He's my type ♪ Well, kind of. LOL!!!!!!

Me too, Tm, he's down to earth, and Carol Klein, so enthusiastic. I have heard Monty Dons' dogs are going to present the programm, they increase the ratings so much, wuff!

I didn't know he has more than one dog. Didn't know that the dogs will present the show either. You are a real Monti Don fan, aren't you Siris!?

Just watch Gardeners' World when it is on the TV.

Joke, Siris!
I love Gardeners' World too :-)
Chelsea Flower show will be held this month (?). I like to watch the special programmes (live show etc.) on Gardeners' World. Watching them make me feel I'm actually there.

When we are allowed to watch!! and snooker does not take priority!!
2 May, 2016
You are obviously doing what I am while OH watches the snooker, keeping up with Gou friends.
2 May, 2016
Thank Goodness my OH doesn't watch snooker. He loves to watch Gardeners' World with me. We disagree with each other all the time but the programme is one of the very few things we don't quarrel over.
