The first honeysuckle to flower is a real joy, I am the same when the lilac comes into flower too!

Thanks all , Angela I'm sorry I've no idea it use to grow over the fence from a neighbours garden its a very old fashioned one with the most amazing scent ,when we moved knowing how much a liked it he kindly gave me a little plant he had grown from a cutting, that was 20 years ago ,the scent is absolutely amazing in the evenings I love walking round last thing at night to smell it !

No problem, some of the older varieties are still the best for perfume......

I'll try to get a cutting growing this year Angela !

Layering is as good a method as any. Or if you're really hacking it back use old wood and just push it into the soil.
