Would you know the name Siris? Sort of looks like yours yellow one. It has little orangey beard.

Sorry Klahanie, this looks like an historic ie, an older one, still nice though. There are so many varieties on the market now, the Americans breeders have developed so many that we don't see in Europe.

I have quite a bit of irises around here Siris and I know that previous owners of this place were not gardeners so they had to be planted at least 25 years ago if not more. They are gorgeous plants. One thing I like about them is that their leaves stay green all year round in contrast with tulips, poppies, colchicum or other "bulby" plants (although beautiful flowers) where the dying leaves are eyesore for a long time. I have hundreds of colchicums and at this moment the leaves are smothering everything around. But.....in September they are an incredible sight. (if we do not have rains).

The only plants I intermingle in my Iris border are Gladiolus, because the dying foliage does not flop in a wet soggy mass, and then I just cut off the upright brown dead stems. Also being corms they probably appreciate the blood, fish and bone feed, which is the Irises preferred treat.
