I keep very few each year. You don't need lots of seedlings that look the same. It is just part of hybridizing. The hard part is learning to get rid of the weak ones.

So is it hard to tell the weakvfrom the strong

No, I go by height of the scape (some are really short and flower down in the foliage), number of buds ( some have only 2 or 3 buds), and if it reblooms for me (a trait I breed for). Then there is colour, form, and patterns.
