Dd, you said a fortnight ago your new plant was coming up, and I said my clump was not even showing thro' the soil. Look at it now, with a flower pike developing.

Oh no, that was unfortunate, nothing has ever touched my Smilacina, the Polygonatum yes, got eaten last year, but I have just sprayed it with a systemic insecticide.

Excellent Simbad, Dd was unlucky then, but with only one stalk there is not safety in numbers.

The black cow parsley is flowering too but its very hard to photograph ,I'll keep trying , cow parsley is the bane of my life here but if they all looked like this one I wouldn't mind at all !! :-)

I hope the colour black is intense. I have a super dark black self-seeded in the Iris border, full sun. I really should pull it out. They seed themselves quite easily, but I think it will cross pollinate with the common colour, if you are not careful, resulting gradually in poorer colour.
Have you thought of cutting the flower heads off all the common as you see them, before they seed, then gradually removing them.

Yes Siris that's what I've been doing slicing the plants several times at the base each time they resprout it's a large area though and they've been there so long that new seedlings still pop up each year think they're weakening a bit this year, I will win one day, there are definitely none with flower heads that's for sure lol!
And yes the colour of the one you sent is very dark :-)

And it comes true to form from seed, if kept isolated from common green.

I now have two large stems like furled hosta leaves?

Oh good, resurrected itself. Dd.

Hi Siris, is this S Racemosa (white flowers). I really like this plant if so ?

29 Dec, 2016

Yes Dawn, it is racemosa. Now it has been renamed, I believe, to Maianthumum racemosum, same plant, more awkward name.
