Persicaria 'Painter's Palette is not in the least invasive for me, if anything could do with being a bit more vigorous.

Mine grows to about 45 cm and is in sun in morning, shaded the afternoon. You should ask Dottydaisy, hers grows quite rampantly and self seeds apparently, mine never has.
