This is a piece I split from my big clump Siris its taken a couple of years to get going but looking good now, this border needs a major sort out in the autumn though I made the mistake of planting Saponaria in it , why the heck did I do that !!, while its very pretty its weaving among everything, I did see my first hummingbird hawk moth on it last year though :-)
Thanks Dawn this is a lovely one a swap years ago very tall at around 4ft, I love it too as you don't have to keep splitting it it just spreads around and flowers each year , have enough dividing to do lol.

Think you gave me a piece of this Simbad, flowered its first year, not this though, think I will have to enrich the soil just here. Think it was this I saw flowering in Dd's garden recently, was the height that gave it away.

Yes I did Siris I remember :-), have never known which it is, its from a garden swapshop many years ago the same person sent me this and my unknown yellow bearded iris, similar to your Historic but shorter.

I think my garden gets off to an early start then when the soil dries out, later flowering plants are slower than those in gardens further north. Still time.

The big clump of this further down the garden isn't flowering yet so yes still time :-), I had a bearded open its first flower yesterday 'Rajah' I think it is.

Interesting... just saw my Butter and Sugar are starting... thing is, they don't look at all like your Butter and Sugar. will post a pic for comparison. Mine are the same combination of colour but the falls are not as defined nor as ruffled. We are into a very hot period again... fluctuating temps slow the flowering, I find ...my bearded iris (TAN) are almost finished and my siberians are just starting ??? Maybe the TAN just likes the moist, valley places... but with the heat the stream is drying up. Moved Midnight Revelry last summer and it has come up (in a transfer bed) looking like it's going to have huge blooms. Just likes to be where it's warmer with less competition, at least that's my guess. Your garden looks lush and lovely and much more controlled than mine.

I've never known which variety this is Lori a few others have suggested Butter and Sugar but pictures I've seen I'm not so sure mmmmm, mine always looks like this , I'll keep a lookout for your picture to compare, Midnight Revelry looks lovely I just googled it what a colour !! :-), oh my garden has lots of uncontrolled areas unfortunately , bindweed aaaargh.
