Yes this only had a couple of gall midged buds :-)

Sounds like you are going to have to divide it soon. I have an area that really needs a complete make over - everything dug up, divided, and replanted; but it will be a major job and I'm not looking forward to it.

same here Wylie the border needs a good sort out ...
but I have learnt from you and Simbad mark out and record the plants on paper !!! the good thing is I have captured 99% with name and photo but then its a waiting game to see who is who

Oh I have a couple of borders that need the same Wylie , one has a saponaria in it which has gone mad and mingled with all the other plants, while I love it, and saw my first hummingbird hawk moth on it last year, t wasn't a good idea to plant it in a border so everything needs to come out , I'll keep a bit but it'll be on the woodland edge where it doesn't bother other plants , so that's my first job this autumn like you not looking forward to it, then yes there are many daylilies which need dividing too before I do myself an injury trying to lift them.
Thanks Gg, the garden section on here is invaluable , when I buy a new plant I write on here where it's planted, when I remember lol ;-).
