Story is that I bought the plant last year and it had wonderful display of purple flower spikes about 18" tall.
It did not look like my other salvia which I am not so crazy about and neither is deer. So...that in mind I planted this new one and it looked beautiful until one day, and to my surprise, there was no salvia to be seen, None, zilch, chewed to the ground. I dug the root ball out and put it in a pot. It is recovering very nicely as you can see from the picture. it is even pushing out a small flower spike which is not visible in my close up .

I am not sure Dawnsaunt. It could have been rabbit.

Thank you Homebird and Daylily. It is doing very well. . It even rewarded me with one flower spike :-). I think I will need a bigger pot for it.
