Double Daylily "Kwanso" (Hemerocallis fulva)

So easy, so common, wouldn't be without Kwanso.

I am debating removing mine. It isn't flowering much. It didn't flower last year...well only one or two stems. I'm coming to the view that Day Lilies aren't suitable for Scotland!

How can you miss those bright orange flowers, Dd. That's a shame! Karen.

Yes, but Kwanso without flowers is not great is it? :S

Siris we have several orange ones in the garden...... might have to take out some day lilies this year, far too many with gall midge or not enough flowers, the only two that are reliable are Catherine Woodbury and Crimson Pirate!!

Karen, I agree about the dull foliage, Iris foliage is dire too after flowering, but I adore the flowers, and the expectation at bloom time.
Dd, I am keeping an eye on the early ones that had distorted blooms, another year then the chop for those that don't measure up. Some are taking a while to establish to full flowering capacity.

Its gone in to the field. I took the bull by the horns. Glad I did as it only had a single flower stem...no others amongst the numerous fans. I've replaced it with a Camellia which I removed from the back garden. It will benefit from the shade of the Apple Tree. Sad to see the end of Kwanso. I also removed the Yellow ones as they were also completely flowerless. :( And they were in full sun!

Right plant, right place .... not Karen's place, shame but there is no point if it's not to be.
