A Sarracenia with fat red/yellow pitchers. Not flowered for me so not sure of the flower colour.

Did it catch the fly? Beautiful plant.

Dd, All were over wintered on the pond shelf, but this winter will give them a bit of protection, they did get a bit of frost damage.
Dawn, I didn't wait around to see if the fly was a goner. The hairs on the pitchers all face towards the mouth, to stop the flies retreating.

Well Siris, I think he was on a slippery slope. Fascinating plants.

So pleased with this Genus, looked into getting hardy ones after seeing them in a botanic garden in the Loire, France.

Go for it! Do you have Venus flytrap too? They fascinate me in a childish way ?

No Dawn, Although Venus Flytraps are hardy, I could not give them the conditions and attention they require outside.

I didn't realise yours were outside, pretty amazing how you keep them going.

I was given much vital advice by a most helpful Gou member, ie must be grown in an open peat medium, plenty of sun, always kept moist, with rain water, no fertiliser. Am really enjoying this genus.
