You'll love this one, Moti. In Canada, for a few years it was the Weeda non grata. Purple Loosestrife, as they call it here, was going to invade out wetlands and crowd out all our native species plants... It was a scourge! (according to them)...the "scientist" had to admit after being taken to account, that he needed a grant to continue his education and created the "threat". I think now, as I did then, that it's a lovely plant for a certain niche and people who take these "threats" seriously need a reality check. At present they are trying to vilify Giant Hog Weed. A very imposing plant that is making a sweep through the southern part of Ontario, this year. It grows very large and looks like Queen Anne's Lace on steriods. If left undistubed it does no harm...other than to spread like a bad rash... er... but if you should get the sap of the plant on your bare skin and it's exposed to the sun, you will get blister like sores caused by sun sensitivity. In our county some person in the roads department has been "raising consciousness" about it and has been given a mandate to spray it with roundup. I'd like to suggest a little common sense...like don't go out weed wacking with shorts on, you'll get a rash on your legs... and don't let your children try climbing it... they'll get a rash! BUT... no. they spray more poisons on the soil and into the water cycle that will be carried in the DNA of any plant and/or animal that comes into contact with it. Who knows what kind of cocktail nature can brew out of that... ? sorry, rant over.
I love this plant. good on you for growing it so beautifully.
