Phloxes with Hibiscus syriacus in the background

Phloxes with Hibiscus syriacus in the background

We call Hibiscus syriacus the Rose of Sharon.
Lots of buds this year. Always starts to bloom on the top first. The white phlox just starting to open while some of the pink ones are almost gone.

The Phlox are looking good, I like the white one. Here, the Hypericum is known as St John's Wort or Rose of Sharon. Strange how different places have different names for plants, only the latin names stay the same.

Thorneyside, we call Hypericum as St John's Wort also but not Rose of Sharon. That is exclusively for hardy hibiscus. I noticed also that different regions name their plants differently. That why the Latin names are so important.
