Ahhh that's nice, thank you. ? It's great!
I'm a bit of a novice at this gardening lark, but am learning quick! Lol

I like your formalistic design. Its neat and has a cute almost 'Aice In Wonderland' feel to it. :)

Ahhh thank you?
It is a longish and narrow garden, so I tried to
Make it look as wide as I could.
I've just planted lots of clematis, jasmine, and honeysuckle in theborders this weekend. So hopefully next year there will be more colour in it. I also ordered some primula vialii plug plants on line, but they all arrived dead and badly squashed, so will have to source some more, but not from online companies as I don't want to chance it again.

Hmm..they can be hit and miss, but I've never had a bad result from Crocus, taylorsclematis, or other specialist nurseries. Its usually the seed merchants like Parkers, Mr Fothergills, thomson-morgan etc. That have disappointed me. I've had mixed success with Sarah Raven but would risk it again from her website. Hayloft, the same...a bit inconsistent. You'll probably find that if you want something specific you ususally have to rely on the websites. Having said that, its always worth asking your local nursery. Mine in Arbroath is brilliant at getting things for me. I recenty asked them for an Abies koreana and a week later they called me and I got the first pick of six. It was 3' tall and cost me £12! Would have been £30 from an online specialist. :)

Funny you should say that as it was jparkers that I ordered
From. I really was very disappointed with them, so won't use them again. I think I will look up the others you mentioned and give them a try then. Thanks ?

You're welcome...this site is great for sharing experiences, good and bad. :)

You should Tell Parker's they almost alway send another lot cannot guarantee they would be any better and they won't ask for the old ones returned so you have nothing to lose

I see my comments above are redundant personally if as you say you are fairly new to growing i would I would give Vialii a miss for a while it is not the most straightforward plant to grow as it is loved by slugs and snails. If you want primula go for yellow and red Polyanthus they look good and smell wonderful over many weeks in late winter and spring, homebase usually have good ones 6 to a tray but they may not be in yet.

Hi bjs, thanks for your advice ?.
Jparkers have refunded me now. I will certainly look out for the plants you mentioned, as slugs have proved to be a real problem in my garden. I grew some runner beans in pots along with some cucumber plants and they munched the lot of them. About the only things that survived were my strawberry plants and Tomatoe plants!

Good point Brian..i've never been able to keep P.viallii either.

I am really p....off with Parkers. Have got an order outstanding with them from 2 months ago, keep phoning them to ask when coming, another 2 weeks, another couple of weeks, etc, etc!!

Siris, That's not what you expect is it, maybe don't use them again after your order finally turns up. (Hopefully it does).
I havnt ordered from then since when I ordered some primula vialii Plants that turned up dead and squashed, (although on saying that, they did refund me afterwards) .
Hope your order doesn't turn up in a poor condition too. And fingers crossed it does actually turn up as well! ?

I used them once before, about 8 years ago, vowed not again, should have learned, but wanted particular plants. Much better to visit a local nursery. Welcome to Goy, by the way. MaggieW.

Thank you siris ?

Just arrived, today, Worth the wait, so much better quality than my first experience. Potted them up because my ground is now cold and waterlogged.
23 Nov, 2016
That's good siris! Let me know how the plants get on ! ?

I like your stone path. I may "borrow" your idea for my own garden.
10 Apr, 2017
Aaaahh thank you Bathgate. ? They are actually stones in the shape/form of old fashioned English coins. Quite effective if not a little out of line though! Lol
What part of your garden were you thinking of putting a path in?
11 Apr, 2017
I'd like to add a stone path from the driveway to the patio, to keep my shoes dry & clean. I have several other "do it yourself" home projects on my priority list - not enough hours in the day.
13 Apr, 2017
I know that feeling too well unfortunately Bathgate. Lol?
13 Apr, 2017
The idea of Coins is very unique. Must be a real conversation starter.
13 Apr, 2017
You only seem to realise they are coins as you walk on them. The grass hides them alittle. People do seem to like them though. They always ask where I bought them from, but they weren't expensive really, just from wyevales!
( sorry, that's just a local garden center near me). Lol.
13 Apr, 2017
That's very clever - something you don't see everyday & something to be discovered. People love that & could jump start their own creative ideas.
13 Apr, 2017
Why thankyou very much Bathgate although me "clever"........ that's definetly a first! Lol. ??
