It has two flowers open today Siris and another just opening , love it :-).
Can you remember the birds pulled up one of the tubers you sent last autumn and i couldn't find it ?Well I found it today and its still alive!!, Rob strimmed the whole daylily bed for me yesterday I have so many need splitting it'll make it a lot easier now I can see the actual clumps , anyway when I was raking up the leaves it was wedged in among a daylily not far from where it was planted blinking magpies lol, anyway its planted now can't remember which it was though.
Thanks to Siris Klahanie she sent me some beauties :-)

How exciting. It's a beauty.
So what's the secret in growing irises ladies?

Simbad, question for you. Do you alway cut down your Daylily vegetation at this time of year?

Vjd look at Siris 's she has some really lovely ones , quite a few of which are now in my garden.
You never know Siris could be :-). Funny you should mention cutting back the daylilies , they do look very tatty now ,I have so many to split that Rob strimmed the whole bed last week, avoiding any rebloomers, I filled a whole compost bay the evergreens and semi evergreens have already regrown a good couple of inches and look much better, making it so much easier to split too, I'd normally do it end of September .
Siris is the iris expert Dawn ;-), but I just give them the sunniest spot I can to bake the tubers and don't let nearby plants flop over them.
I'll be in touch with you both in a few days when I've a list of which Daylily spares I have ;-)

Bless you Kathy. ?
Sounds like if I create a sunny designated spot I should be fine then. Siris?

Thank you for the info, ref: chopping back the Daylilies, I have just been pulling off the dead brown leaves around the edge. Will shear back Little Missy, next year she might need dividing. Thanks Simbad, await with interest your division list.

Soooo Kathy, should I cut my day lilies down now. The leaves are still green and healthy.
12 Sep, 2016
If they look ok Dawn leave them, mine had got to look a bit tatty with lots of dead leaves among the clumps and with so many its easier to just cut the whole lot back than mess about pulling from individual clumps they soon send up fresh new leaves , they're fine either way, just makes them look better with fresh new foliage :-)

I must go though my Daylily names and make a note of the evergreens, but if I leave them till the frosts, nature will probably tell me.
13 Sep, 2016
Thanks Kathy.
So if I want to move some, I can do now? And cut the leaves back?
Siris, I didn't realise some were evergreen. ?
13 Sep, 2016
Oh yes you'll soon know then Siris :-),
Yes nows a good time Dawn Sept/October , yes there are dormants which die back completely , semi-evergreen which by next spring look quite tatty but still have some leaves, then the evergreens which look good all year ( do need dead foliage removing though), I should have dotted them around better in the daylily bed I have one area with mainly dormants that looks a bit bare in winter , must re jig them :-)
14 Sep, 2016
Get jiggy with it!
Thanks Kathy.
My originals from you have grown so well. I will split them and dot them around tomorrow!!

Well I never! It is Champagne Elegance, which is a remontant, but it has never flowered 'out of season' for me. And you have more buds to open.
