This Alexander Palm is growing like crazy! It's amazing it's growing so quickly without the copious amounts of water it demands for such growth. Photo taken Sept. 3, 2016.

Compost with mulch is great! It also keeps the soil moister.
I'm so frustrated with this drought and I can't put into words on this forum! :>((
All I can do is hope we get at least normal rainfall this season without the extremely hot temps! I've lost more plant to this drought than even during the horrible 7 year drought. It's because this current drought affect all the western states.

Stan,
It's full of seed right now. They're not ripe yet, though.
In years past it would abort the inflorescence because of the horrible drought. With all the rain this past season it set a whole lot of seed. I'm guessing the seeds will ripen in summer. The seeds look like green marbles now. I'll take a pic and post it.

I added mulch to my two Kings..I think it actually makes them perkier.
Mulch does help...Ive been adding it here and there to the water needy plants- even Hibiscus in a pot. Helps prevent that wilt between watering's...but you still have to water!
