I used to help a disabled lady with her garden and this would pop up all over the place ... so many 'runners' would grow :o(

I know Shirley, hard to eliminate if left on its own for years in the garden. Better to keep it in the pot......but even then they like to escape. It is pretty leaf though and the flowers are delightful.

Yes, I remember it as an attractive plant.

Thanks Sheila for the info. It is very pretty and I would not mind to have a little bit around the tree. We do have a heavy clay. I already have several pretty "spreaders" . In our surroundings I do not mind. We have lots of space.
The only one I want to eliminate is Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) . I love that plant but it is so aggressive here( and unpredictable) that we are working on its elimination. Which seems to be impossible task.

I sometimes make tea when I get rid of some of mine. "In Japan, the beverage (...) is made from the dried leaves, widely used as a general detoxification for ridding the body of harmful bacteria" (Wikipedia).

Thanks for the (new to me) information Tommymoo. Did not know that the tea from dry leaves is so beneficial.
