Penstemon Purple (for my file)

Lovely - a nice surprise, and lovely big flowers too. I hope the others are as nice. This one is very like one I paid good money for at the Nat. Bot Garden of Wales a couple of years ago.

It has taken about a week to develop the white inside. Seedling 3 is going to be either a deep pink or red. Think frost will probably stop any more developing flowers this year.

Mrs Greenfingers you should be called, you have the knack, when did you sew them, did you buy the seeds?

Dd, the pkt said sow Feb-April so would be late April, bought seed. Have not managed to get Eccremocarpus germinated ( bought seed).

Thank you Linda, I think so too. You are an artist, Linda, what colour would you call this , not really purple, maybe burgundy? I am hoping for different colours from the rest of the seedlings, when they flower, in shades of lilac colour maybe, no more pinks or reds.

I found a small plant of Sour Grapes on a day out this week only cost a £1 its in the greenhouse don't think I'll plant it out till spring.
Have you grown any other penstemon from seed Siris ? Last year I was sent seed of Hirsutus and Ovatus by a friend on another site doesn't look like they will flower this year though, Ovatus has really thick leathery leaves remind me of a hellebore nothing like a penstemon ,roll on next year ;-)

No, Simbad, just bought a mixed colour packet of Pentemon, different varieties of the same species I presume.

Seedling 3 is a large deep pink with the same white inner, must photograph it tomorrow.
