sorry about the delay in replying,Well first I would say that how I grow things in the west will not necessarily suit you in the east for the most part you are drier and hotter than me.I have Bloodgood in a 12 inch pot it is due to be planted out in a couple of years as a replacement for another acer that died of old age the one I have now is about 4ft high it is not a pretty sight having been scorched on a single day when the temperature exceed 30c.I have no idea why but no others were marked.you asked how old they are the oldest ones are in the garden and a few will be over 40 years down to a few in containers 3 or 4 years old the one above came from Malvern about 10 years ago the other on the next page is a seedling that showed up in the garden about 8 years ago.I find them tricky when tranplanted and hard work to get through the first few winters, some varietis produce a lot of seed
As for care never let them dry out they loose a large amount of moisture through there leaves and certainly need checking each day in hot weather.
Although they are not strictly Ericaceous I sprinkle ericaceous granules around them a couple of times a year if I remember .

Is this an acer BJS ? I see you have it in a pot. Your other Autumn photo shows an acer too and I have one called Bloodgood on order.
I know they eventually get very tall but I want to put mine in a pot which will limmit growth anyway.
It will come in a 5 ltr pot for delivery but I,m going to get another pot so how big does it need to be ?
How old are your acers, they look very healthy and beautiful. Any tips about care gratefully received !
Regards Pinky
