View in between the storms October 16/16

View in between the storms October 16/16

We got hit by storm which included the remnant of Typhoon Songda. High winds, lots of rain leaving piles of debris behind. Should be gone tonight.

Looks lovely - the clouds look so innocent...

Thank you Stera, a brief period before darker clouds and pouring rain moved in. Luckily, relatively warm but what a mess everywhere. Hopefully the worst is over.

It has a dreamy feel to it. Almost surreal.

We've had some very heavy rain here in the past 24hours, so hearing about how its been over there we can count our blessings.

Me too Amy :) I feel very lucky to have visited Vancouver Island about 20 years ago, and the trip on the ferry from Vancouver, weaving between several smaller islands was a treat.

Thank you ladies, it's beautiful but not for everybody. I think that people from Toronto, London or New York love to come for holiday but could not live here. Although, Vancouver Island is big enough to have all the conveniences of a mainland. Dealing with ferries can be a nuisance at times but the trip to Vancouver is a treat as Sheila said. We hardly ever go that way anymore. Most our trips off the Island are down to "States" We can hop on ferry and go right from Victoria to Seattle or Port Angeles (not to be confused with Los Angeles). When the Canadian $ was at par with US$ we were going there for shopping as the goods were generally less expensive in US than in Canada. These days it is not advantageous (or our priority any more) as we are much less consumption oriented than when we were younger. At one point we lived in big cities and travelled most of the western world and now at this stage of our life we enjoy our quiet retirement here .
