Thank you Gg and Tracey. I almost took it home but it was very pricey in this size. Will have to watch for a smaller one. It looked so elegant.

Mee too Siris. I just ordered bunch of irises over the web (thanks to you). I don't think they will bloom next year but some of them look very beautiful in the picture. I overlooked these plants for years.

Hope you do well with your Iris, Beardeds? Khalanie. They are rabbit proof, don't mind the cold but hate winter wet.

Thank you Siris. Right now I inherited about 5 different kinds. I am not sure about the names. I looked over the net (and yours) if I can identify some of them but pictures can be deceiving. They seem to be all "heritage" or old fashion sort. So, I got bunch more exotic and "modern" this time. I could have a problem with wetness in winter . Will have to ponder where to put them.

Bearded Iris. If you have somewhere facing the sun, not overhung with tree dripping water after it rains, that is a good start. Alternatively make a raised bed, slanted towards the sun, incorporate grit so drains well.
In the uk potatoes are grown in raise lines, caused by 'earthing up' the plants, could do that but keep the Iris rhizomes above ground.
