Fascinating aren't they. I like them so much so I also have a peeling bark cherry and birch - Prunus serrula and Betula Chinese ruby. ?. Both tiny trees though.

Oh thats one to consider for our new area in the wood !, Rob as you know has had to chop lots of dead trees so we have room for some more interesting trees instead of all the self sown saplings .

They are stunning trees, slow growing though. The leaves are turning red now, I will post a pic tomorrow x
