Leucothoe Fontanesiana "Nana"

Leucothoe Fontanesiana "Nana"

Just bought.
This is the winter colour of the dwarf drooping leucothoe
I like that it is a evergreen and apparently deer resistant.
I'll put it to the test soon.
My lady deer is here every day but she respectfully leaves when I walk out :-)

I am still looking for Loropetalum.

It got my attention too Hywel so it went home with me.
I am trying to replant a hill with low growing plants (this is a dwarf) I use to have a vineyard there but it did not work out. Thank you for your comment.

I agree with Hywel, beautiful colour and shine to the leaves.

This is gorgeous, Klahanie!

By the way, if you do find Loropetalum, it will need shelter in the very cold weather . . but perhaps you knew that . .

I did not know that Sheila. I read that they are native to Himalayas and Japan and tolerate some cold. It is listed hardy to zone 7 (we are 8b) But maybe that is the reason why I cannot source them locally. According to some(several) website there are few hybrids on the market. And some are simply gorgeous. I have seen some on our travels to US but actually did not noticed any around here.

Thank you Gg.

Stan, I have to get my eyes "fixed" and you know Canadian medical system...you wait ages for the procedure, so I am waiting and then when its done we can go for a shorter period , hopefully.

Sorry to hear you have an eye problem, Klahanie . . . do you have cataracts? I had one in one eye and the procedure was painless and only took 20 minutes. Good luck with yours.

By the way, I'm going to try taking cuttings of my Loropetalum, so if successful will let you know!

Unfortunately, it is little more complicated than that Sheila. Good luck with Loropetalum cuttings.
