Yes....one of them is very happy, very loving and very docile. The other is very intelligent and always wants to. Be the boss...so consequently she is often quite disgruntled. But there you go...they cant help their breeding! ;)

Dracaena 'Janet Craig' does well outdoors there as long as it's protected. They don't like full sun. There's several large ones in front of this house I pass going to work. They're very tall...however, they sun-burn or look kind of bleached-out. The ones I've seen growing under big trees look flawless!

I have a large Draceana sanderiana (lucky bamboo). It's very large in the house. I need to move it outside in the ground somewhere. It's needs to be in semi-shade where it gets water. My Dracaena fragrans (corn plant) hardly grows because it's under the Jacaranda tree and gets so little water. It's been in the ground for years.

I'm getting into the Draceana's more and more. I planted out the Tri color since its survived 3 year potted outdoors. Came close to...but then came back! That was in a pot. In ground I expect to bump up the winter hardiness.

I have two others. a "Lemon" dwarf Draceana that I think I might as well plant out in light shade..less watering in summer to do. And I have the ..whats the gray one? Common. Same reason for planting out.
You know with my Ti's and Cordy's and Ponytail's my yard has a look I never intended. Sort of a them of grass plants look.

I've seen a few Dracaena fragrans growing outside in Hayward. I think Dracaena deremensis varieties are pretty tough. Dracaena marginata varieties are less hardy, based on my experience up in Hayward. I lost two plants in 3 years to cold. I think a very protected spot would do best for D. marginata. It's funny because it's the most commonly planted Dracaena here in San Diego...they're everywhere. I guess because of their drought and very bright sun tolerance (without burning).

My Dracaena reflexa 'Song of India' is getting huge!

I used to lose D.marginata too in the 80's. Now,Andy,its near rock hardy. Things have changed.I haven't seen mine suffer any cold damage in the many years now its been outdoors. Its even got sun bleached white trunks.I should plant it out too.It started as a small dish garden plant my wife had. Its now grown into a good 5' potted triple.
I do have D. deremensis that's been in the same small pot for years...outdoors on my front porch. Slow grower..but once in the ground it wont matter. A nice filler.
