The blooms remind me of those little Christmas tree lights.

It's never bloomed at this time of year before. It usually does so in the early spring.

It's always lovely to see a plant flower outside it's natural season but a shame when you don't get them at their usual time! just like the Daffs that bloomed here at Christmas last year! (I don't think there will be a repetition this year though!)

Gorgeous! could it be that these lush and beautiful blooms are the plants apology for all the thorns and prickles? ;-)

Hi Lori. This cactus has fine hairs :)
Maybe the flowers on a rose are an apology for the even nastier thorns and the boring way they look in winter :)

Sometimes berries form on it Stan but they are covered in fine hairs so I would not eat them.

I think this a Rhipsalis growing wild on a tree in southern Brazil. Its tropical here 9 months of the year cooly temperate for 3 and with rains all year.

The other is a Rhipsalis sp. I'm willing to bet this one is P.pilocarpus..its looks exactly like mine that I see everyday.

Ah I had it to work now. I must have done something wrong - I'm not the most patient of folk with gadgets.
I think it is R. pilocarpa too - the same as in the other link. It's nice to see it growing naturally :)
