Clianthus puniceous buds.

Clianthus puniceous buds.

These Clianthus puniceous buds have been around for a few weeks now. I'm hoping the snow and ice we've been forecast to get today won't finish them off.

Are the buds the grey hanging pieces? My Clianthus from you is in the conservatory in a big pot because twice something decimated it, ratty?

Yes Siris, like a string of buds really. I think it must be because it's from the legume family and is related to peas.
The seed pod is like a pea pod and the other names for it are Glory pea and Kaka Beak.

Thanks for the info, I do hope the snow hasn't destroyed your necklace of buds. I planted mine against the sunny back fence ....eaten, potted to recover, then planted against the east facing fence....re eaten, so now inside till it becomes too enormous to be eaten. That's the theory anyway. I have heard that rats don't like Catmint, so maybe I will surround it with that.

I was just looking back at my photos on here and it flowered early last winter, 27/12/15. That was what a mild winter did for us.

I await your flower photos.
