Looks very healthy - a big and dramatic version of our wild
Asplenium scolopodendrium which grows in great masses round here.

Steragram:

Yes, this tropical fern has fronds to more than 6' (2m) long.

It must be quite a sight to see Asplenium scolopodendrium growing wild.

There is a bit of woodland down our road that's full of them - they love it round here. It must be all the good Welsh rain! Efforts to grow just one where we lived before were a total failure. I will try to remember to get a photo for you.

I bet they love all that rain. Here in San Diego rain is usually so scarce. This rainy season has been good, though. The first time in years we're getting such good rains. It's finally going to break the 6 year long extreme drought. Yay!

Dottydaisy2:

This last drought is probably the worst the state has ever experienced in recorded California history. hundreds of Millions of trees are dead or dying! :>((

Luckily, this year we've had a tremendous amount of rain in Northern California and record levels of snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Here in Southern California we had a lot of rain...although, not enough to break the drought yet. Hopefully, this rain will help some of the dying trees!

It's been warm the last 4 or 5 days but a lot of rain is coming by Friday, Saturday. This is good for the drought.

That's good to hear.... cannot imagine living without rain for so long!

Yes, it's good. We're expecting a lot of rain (big storm) Friday through Sunday. It was 80ºF (27ºC) today.

The reason why the drought was so severe this last 6 years is because the winters have been very hot (much above normal). We've had many temps like during the middle of summer. This causes a lot of stress on drought-stressed plants and trees, especially when it's 90ºF or hotter in the middle of winter.
