Hedge Bindweed

Hedge Bindweed (Calystegia sepium)

Gift from the neighbor ( or curse maybe!) this Out of Control vine has pale lavender trumpet blooms

Looks like convolvulus, which is not considered a gift by most gardeners.

????Convululus has white flowers??? Agree that the leaves look like it - but pale mauve flowers????

Thanks, I had a look on the internet and found the common name. Started with Convululus but it wasnt quite the match. Hedge Bindweed seems to fit from the pics I saw. I love how quickly this vine grows up the wall but on the other hand it is almost impossible to keep under control...

We have the purple one here too. It looked similar to white convulvulus so in my ignorance I assumed it was a relative, but maybe it's a different plant. I have to say that it is not so vigorous as the white.

Then I guess Im lucky that I didnt end up with the White one LoL!

Sorry - but the one you have is just as bad! Now I know what it is, I know why I thought the leaves were the same - they are just a bit smaller than the more common Bindweed, but this plant is just a slightly prettier version, just as rampant though! Get rid of it!

I have been mulling that over, getting rid of it, will have to dig up the bed in the spring and then hit it with Roundup unfortunately. Means I will lose my daylilies...I dont dare try to transplant them as they might carry the vine to another part of the garden. I will have a bare patch there for one season but the next year I will be able to replant...thinking of putting in some Clematis.

Anything in the bird box?

No, think its a bit low and too close to a path for the birdies, they will perch on it tho..
