Good Morning NY

Thats how I remember it when I visited in March 2003. And there was a freaky heatwave while we were there..it went to 18C ..all my clothes were too warm..and the day after we got home it was -12. How lucky was that! Talk about the 'Weather Gods' smiling on us for my 40th birthday celebrations. We saw Thoroughly Modern Millie on Broadway. Brilliant! I'll never forget the view from the Empire State Building at dusk.

LOL yes I remember the heatwave. I think I was vacationing on Fire Island. You are lucky you missed the blackout - total power failure! It was like being zapped back to the 17th century..oh good times!

Gosh Bathgate, I'm surprised you remember it. It must have been freakier than I had realised! I have a vague memory of blackout...but only vague..was that the same year?

Some things you just never forget - 9/11, blackouts & heatwaves. Blackouts were in 1977 & 2011

Ah...thanks. Yes, NY blackout would be quite something...but not in a good way.

It was pretty scary to suddenly have no electricity - how much we depend on it and we take for granted. I think it started when everybody flipped on their air conditioners all at the same time - then black and I mean black- out.

See, that would be scary!
