Dotty they are looking good no frost is the answer.

You have to think of it as a small tree long term this one is quite old 25 years and probably 20 ft high and a spread of about 10 ft.

I remember Daphne Ledbetter saying once on the radio how everyone should plant a magnolia early on in their life as they take 20 years to look really good.
Sadly, I tried but without success.

that is sad but try again if you buy M.Susan ( deep Maroon) that can be bought at reasonable prices in supermarkets often in flower that will grow quite fast after a year settling in. It will also grow as a container plant for some years.

Oh I've tried different ones a few times, Brian, but they don't seem to like me. I think it's the establishing bit that's tricky.
