Oh...for heaven's sake! Poor Lori...poor Canadians! Dont sigh en masse or it will all end up here!

had a bit of a smile regarding "sigh(ing) en masse" I'm supposing that it would more likely be a collective groan or huge blast of profanity! We (Canadians) are so DONE with this winter business.
Have you seen the mess in Gander, Nfld?

oh, wow. I'm keeping my small plants under cover despite the sunshine lately, in case April picks up winter. Looks like it's still got some stings left to deliver

No Lori...we get no news of the Canada at all.....hardly ever. Its incredible how little we hear about you.

That's wise Fran, always pays to take extra care. These days it's April one day... and January the next!
no biggie, Karen... I mentioned Gander because the same day we got this snow...they received enough to make snow drifts deep enough to engulf a two storey house! People were trapped in their houses. I remember when we lived in Cornwall, Ontario, we had a snow "event" in Mid-March of 2009 (I think it was) that dropped 5 ft of snow on us overnight.

Lori,

OMG!!! That looks like the middle of winter for you. When will spring time come for you?

You need to come to San Diego to bask in the sun and warmth. :>))

I can't even imagine 5' of snow falling overnight! lol! :) Scott was telling me today that there is some suggestion that Scotland should join Canada if we vote to leave the UK....hilarious!

Lovely photo Lori reminds me of Christmas shame the snow has come for Spring. I see New York had the same recently

I wondered if its any thing to do with the wind. The wind according to the tv has always blown the same way last year for the first time since weather records it blew the opposite way now its returned to the original way.

living in the temperate zone has its better points, we see all four seasons defined... but the variations of precip and warmth or cold from year to year can be a source of constant comment. I've refrained from saying too much about our weather this year because it's been bleepin' awful and it can change on a dime. March was more like January but I'm happy to say (and I'm knocking on wood as I write this) that April has been warm enough to melt most of the snow and in the last 5 days we've gone from snowbanks to completely bare ground. I've actually done some raking and cleaning up and my crocuses are in bloom... (a week ago they were under snow!)
I would love to experience Southern California weather, Andy. It would be a staggering change! I'm not real good at constant 90's though...I'd be wilted by it, I think. ;-)
Now wouldn't that be a strange association, Karen? One thing you might find strange is having to adopt French as you second official language... and maybe we'd have to include Gaelic!? ochh...nooooo!
You are probably right about that Tpb! Our weather all comes from the West because of the Jet Stream which crosses the continent and when it's at higher latitudes it brings us warmth..but when it sinks to lower latitudes the arctic cold rushes in with a vengeance!

Lori,

I'm so glad to hear you are getting some much milder weather! It must be so nice to get outside and get into your garden and do some work. :>))

It's not always in the 90's here (especially this time of year) It's been very comfortable in the low-to-mid 70's, maybe around 80ºF (27ºC) today though Monday. The early mornings have been cool 55 to 59ºF (13 to 15ºC) for morning lows.

That does sound very comfortable, Andy. Today is Earth Day, and it's c-c-cold again. +2 with a wind that makes it feel like -2 and sparse sunshine!
crocuses are abloom, my English Bluebells are emerging (in a puddle of snow melt, poor things.) and as usual, right along with the tulips and narcissus, the hemerocallis are up about an inch. this is the time when I find out who made it and who didn't and also which spots warm faster than others. (My new perennial bed was the last to emerge from the grip of snow... so a lesson learned...will make some new beds along the stream in a more open areas.) too early to dig yet... need some warm rain.

Lori,

OMG! That's really very COLD!!! It's been hot here the last two days...upper 80's to low 90's (31 - 33ºC) Yuck!

At least you have some plants emerging. That's a good sign will be there soon.

It's starting to dry out here very fast with the warm weather. The wild flower are still flowering everywhere, though. (the best flowering in many, many years!). :>))
