Weigela

Weigela

You can find this in pink all over the island. It is even used as a roadside planting. The red ones are hard to find.

Are the Impatiens soldenoi naturalized? I imagine they would be as they have in San Francisco. I even have seedlings pop up in my yard, wherever I water the shade.
I imagine the Azores rainfall spread out over a longer season ( this year though, its been rain and more rain from October-April) then the bay area is conducive to their spread.

My Weigelas are only just getting buds Wylie and we've had amazing weather. I have 'Bristol Ruby' too and easy to take cuttings from.

The Impatiens sodenii are weeds. Impossible to kill. A lady rented the house across the street and planted them. Now they are everywhere.
I haven't figured out the right time to take cuttings from this. I know people who would like a piece, but nothing has rooted.

I take them in September/October, after the second small flush of flowers. Large pot, sandy compost and cuttings about 8 to 10 inches long. Stick them around the edge and leave out all winter. Works for me.

Thanks. I'll try it in the fall.
