Japanese Maple

Japanese Maple

Was advised to move this last year as it may be planted in buried pot but couldn't move the surrounding stones and it is doing so well still so have left it for time being.

Jen the roots may well be out of the bottom of the pot ,if that is the case it may well thrive for a long time.

By the time I got to the blog it was gone.

12 May, 2017

Have just seen that Shirley has writtin a blog on why he has gone. It is such a shame. I wrote on blog but hadn't had chance to go back on it to read other comments.

12 May, 2017

Thanks Jen :)

I meant that I had written on Pauls last blog but didn't get chance to read follow up comments. Sorry thought would clear that lol.

Hi Jen...I got ya! :)

12 May, 2017

That's how I knew he'd gone. I got an alert to a new comment on his blog, and when I went to look at it, everything was wiped. I was so surprised...kept thinking the site had crashed! But now I understand what happened. Thanks :)

btw...I bought a tiny red Acer for my patio. Would have got a bigger one, except I saw a grafted purple-leaved cherry so I bought that and the Acer as a little bonus! :)

12 May, 2017

Lol, Karen, sounds like a good deal to me :-).

13 May, 2017

It was Jen..shopping was brief as OH was with me!

That acer looks lovely in the pot,in the ground you have some very good design ideas.I am looking for that colour acer, hope I can find one.

Thanks Callie, but have only lived here just short of 2 years so most of the planting is due to previous owners. They put in some really lovely plants but then I think, lost interest and let the weeds take over, mainly Horsetail :-(. Some of the trees I've had to take out due to their end hight being about 30ft and planted under electricity wires but some, like the Acer are really lovely but only problem is it is right in front of living room window and starting to block it but it's so pretty not sure what to do. :-).

Brian tells me he has moved a few....you need to get a good size root ball..would be a big job to remove those bricks etc, but might be possible....

16 May, 2017

Thanks Karen, it's one of those jobs I've been thinking got to do but been putting off due to size of jobs lol. Worry also due to it being so pretty worried I kill it.

16 May, 2017

Its always a risk Jen, but if you get some help and get it really as big as you can and then water it like crazy for the first few weeks, I bet you will succeed. :)

16 May, 2017

I know what you mean Jen,we have just moved and gosh the garden is very hard work at the moment, one of goy members wrote in their blog,it was harder taking over someone elses garden than starting from scratch.I am looking forward to seeing it in the future as our garden, with acers and my small but golden border.

16 May, 2017

Know what you mean Callie1914, not knowing what to save and what to get rid of.

Thanks Karen, puts my mind a bit more at ease. I so love the colour and hubby thinks I should leave it where it is so got to convince him now lol.

16 May, 2017

I wonder if that's why it's still in a pot Jen...because they didn't want it to get too big and block out the light...could be.

16 May, 2017

You could be right Karen. Hubby also feels it stops people in their cars queuing for roundabout up the road at busy times being able to see in when Acer is in leaf. Thats why he doesn't really want it moved. We have the big wall but iron gates that they can see in.

16 May, 2017

Tell him to behave himself and stop giving them something to look at! ;) lol

17 May, 2017

Lol, did make me laugh, so you know my hubby, he never did learn how to behave :-).

17 May, 2017

;)

That's a nice maple, it looks like it's doing ok in the pot. It's likely the roots grew out of it already or the bottom of the pot broke.

5 Jun, 2017

Think that the roots probably have gone through as it looks like it has been there for some time Rkwright. Hubby has convinced me to leave it for the time being.. :-).
