Yes, I lucky to have so many exotic, tropical plants; however, I consider Angel's Trumpets common. Love them, though! :>))
Soon my plumerias, Heliconias should be flowering.

I suppose we think them rare here as we have nt the weather to grow them so you dont see them in our garden centres well I dont any way.
I shall look forward to seeing your
plumerias, Heliconias .?

I guess it's because they need dry, very hot weather they don't grow well there.
Me too. lol! Last year, because of the severe drought I didn't have many Plumerias flowering. My Heliconias didn't flower at all. Maybe this year with the rains we had I'll get Heliconia flowers in summer.

They do grow very well here but in the south of the UK I live in Coventry Warwickshire which is in the midlands. They grow them in pots then over winter in green houses or sheds.
What a shame your Plumerias did nt flower much and your Heliconias did nt flower at all last year I shall keep my fingers crossed this year for you. Do you not water in drought do you have a house pipe ban like we do here.

I was thinking of another plant, sorry! I do know Angel's Trumpet grow well there. Angel's Trumpets usually like cooler weather with lots of water. This is why they grow and flower best during winter here. Summer they can look pretty bad especially if they don't get enough water and when it's really hot.
Yes, the historic, extreme 6 year drought caused so many problems here in California. This past rainy season most of California had a tremendous amount of rain (especially northern California). I did loose a lot of plants in the horrible drought. What caused the most damage was the extremely hot temps we had in winter for the last several years. It caused so many plants, trees to dry out severely.

Yes, we were on very strict water restrictions. It was finally lifted this past April. This is when the governor officially declared the drought over in California.
16 May, 2017
I am pleased the ban has been lifted to give your plants a chance.

Thanks! Me too.

? I watch you tube on your drought over there such a shame you get droughts so often . It also said lots are leaving the California area to go else where because of house prices people cant afford five hundred thousand good job they dont live here that is average price here in Devin and other places you would be lucky to get a house under five hundren thoysand they are calling it the nanny state like the UK has become such a shame.

Many places in California, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area, houses average much more than 500k, most average houses are over a million US dollars. (I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 35 years).

Were you not worried living there when they have advised people even recently to move away because of the plates are due to go they reckon when it goes it will wipe California and other states off the map.
London is the most expensive place to buy a house here goodness knows why not now any way . your million dollars over there would nt even buy a decent flat in London its ridiculous. I can understand why the Brits go aboard to buy homes they get more for their money and better weather.

Same here in New York & Long Island, very expensive, but I would be very unhappy living anyplace else.

wow you seem to have a lot of inner strength. I grew up very poor myself and had to find my own way in life. I made a lot of mistakes, but it had to be the love of God which kept me safe and on a good path.

Its called determination Bathgate which learned me a lot how to do vast varieties of diy and how to survive . I was nt bought up poor quite the opposite I married a poor man we even had a scrap yard bet you can not imagine me at 19 taking engines and cars apart lol we even use to go Banger racing but ended up homeless.
It might not seem it now to you but I have found studying kids lives here who grow up poor fight to do better for their own family when older some here are now millionaires.

Your plants are amazing!
Thrupennybit & Bathgate.
Life can be so hard sometimes,,,, I'm sure it's all sent to try us!
Good to hear things work out in the end though! ?

On Coronado Island and La Jolla a million dollars buys you a 500 sq ft. box. It's outrageous! However, that's the way the real estate is in many of California. I know New York and San Francisco have the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Thrupennybit:
Fortunately, most people don't think too much about the earthquakes. It's highly unlikely California will be wiped off the map. Even the strongest earthquakes wouldn't affect such a huge land mass. I have lived through the Loma Prieta 7.1 earthquake of 1989. It was the strongest I've ever felt, and I've felt many. It caused a tremendous amount of damage.
