Ficus religiosa - Bo or Sacred Fig

Ficus religiosa - Bo or Sacred Fig (Ficus religiosa - Bo or Sacred Fig)

This Ficus has gotten this big within less than two years. My original plants on the right is smaller and probably 20 years old in a pot. This plant grow from roots that grew into the ground from my original tree. Photo taken July 3, 2017.

I need to dig it out of the ground. I hope it survives. It was not meant to be there.

Will you wait for it to fruit first then dig it out. Such a shame you have to dig it out I hope it survives for you.

The fruit is not edible on none of the Ficus species I grow. They are only edible to monkeys in their native habitat.

This one has very small pea-sized figs...my Ficus cyathistipula (which I have two big trees) has golf-ball sized figs which are sometimes a big pain!

I hope this does survive. It will definitely have to be removed, though.

What a shame the figs are not edible to humans . The other two Ficus sound good though. I hope it survives to for you Andy fingers crossed?

Thanks! :>))

Most tropical Ficus species don't have edible fruit. They're grown for landscape purposes only. They're extremely common landscape trees here in Southern California. Many Ficus species are the wonders of the plant kingdom. They become gigantic banyan trees.

Here's a few pics:
