That's a really dark one Wylie. I have light blue and I did have a white one but not seen it the last few years so it must have given up I think.

I got several from Bali Hai Nursery on eBay.co.uk. There should be a double one when it settles in. All anyone has around here are blue and white ones that are unnamed.

This type doesn't open more than this. It is A. pendulus.

There is a Black Magic one ☺

I have that one, but it is doing poorly in the ground, so I will move it to a pot this fall.

Two of mine are in pots as I was told they flower better in pots than the ground.

Good luck I have one in the ground an evergreen white one trying to get it out to divide was a nightmare and the piece I managed to get out years ago died the roots look like white bean sprouts or spaghetti.

The common ones around here all get planted in the ground. They don't need winter protection, just like the Strelitzias. But I have seen general advice that if an agapanthus doesn't do well in one, try the other.

Do you mean a different part of the garden or in a pot if its not doing well.

20 Jul, 2017

I mean pot vs garden. The one pictured here is in a pot and doing really well. The one in the ground, not so much. Yet the evergreen types seem to do better in the ground.

Thank you Wylie Yes my evergreen does well in the ground never been in a pot since I bought it at the Eden Project when it first opened. I ve had one of the others in the ground it flowered the first year but not the next so I had it pit into a pot still no sign of it flowering even in the pot.

3p the one not flowering you need to feed tomato food , so less nitrogen and more high potash feeds and needs full sun
