I would leave it in the pot ,once they go in the ground they tend to grow much larger than you would like ... it's looking great ..

I am not sure just how much longer it will be able to stay in the pot, we might have to root prune, if we can get it out!!

Now that I see your picture I seem to remember having seen this type of pruning before but was unaware it was called "Cloud pruning"!

It has got a technical term, but I never use it, a Japanese term...Niwaki!

I like the effect very much, Monty was cloud pruning one of his privets the other week.
