The lovely girl is Laura, who swims as a mermaid in St Ives, often with Steve on his paddleboard. Obviously I asked about her, and his reply was "She's a cracker, isn't she, but don't get excited Mum, she's a lesbian"!!

There was a mermaid on 'Spotlight' our local TV news programme this week, I wonder if it was Laura? You might know I hope!

Thanks Chris. I gather that 'being a mermaid' has become quite a craze, so I'm afraid I don't know whether the one you saw was Laura. She only swims in the St Ives Bay, and usually posts her appearances on social media.

Thank you Julia - yes, Steve likes to keep fit. He assures me that he is perfectly happy being on his own! A girlfriend was very insistent about moving in with him a couple of years ago, and that soon killed the relationship, so now I believe him :)

What a silly woman she must have been Sheila. She should have waited to be asked! We married women know you can't push a man otherwise he either digs his heels in or he runs a mile. You have to let a man think any idea is totally his own lol!
