I have several. This is one of the larger plants. I need to sell the larger ones because they need to go into the ground at a new home.

It's good you have others hope you keep a spare back for your self just in case.

I hope it grows well at it's new home.

It's an easy tree to grow from cuttings of any size. Even very large branches can be started.

27 Aug, 2017

That's great that cuttings can be taken from a large branch .

27 Aug, 2017

Yes, it is. I may have to put one into the ground and use it for cuttings.

29 Aug, 2017

Yes that would be a good idea.

Where does the name "Sausage tree" come from?

Wouldn't it be great if many more plants rooted so easily from even big cuttings!

Seen those at the Huntington. I heard there's one in San Mateo up here. I also heard that the "sausage" is hallucinogenic. Some weird side effect. You would have to be Elephant size I guess to eat and only get a buzz.

Stan,

It's a really tender tree. However, I can see it growing up there in mild areas.

The Huntington can get pretty cold. Its those long hot summers that over comes the occasional cold damage. 2007 was very hard on them too.

That heat still grows Royal palms, they can do fine, while here? It might do ok..but be slow growing and maybe worked over after a winter.

Yes, it can get cold there. It also can be very hot during winter, during the daytime. The summer is very hot. My father lived there in the mid-1970's it was very hot there in summer. Also, very smoggy!

I know there used to be a beautiful Royal Palm by the Library. It was flawless. I have been to the Huntington in years.

Thanks for the explanation, Delonix.

BTW, what is the Huntington, a town?

I know in my spelling corrector it sometimes comes up & I have to be careful or I will get the wrong word! ?

Balcony,

It's the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino, CA. It's in Los Angeles County. It's located 20 miles or so north-east of downtown Los Angeles. It gets blistering hot there in summer.

Yes, I know about spelling. I have to be careful, also. LOL!

Here's some information on The Huntington Library and Gardens, if you're interested. :>))

Thanks, for that link! I found the page, & the library, fascinating! Just wish I could visit it for myself!

You're welcome. I haven't been there in quite a few years. I must make a trip to Huntington Library and Gardens and to Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia, which is only about 6 miles from Huntington.

They both have the most incredible exotic subtropical, tropical gardens in California.
