this was a maple tree, 3d. so I think I'll set it up to season and dry for the winter..and in spring I will use it as a post or beams in the castle cabin I will build on the spot. There's a lot of dried dead stuff up the hill which I plan to store for the winters wood.

Yes thats a great idea I cant wait to see your castle cabin Lori. Glad you have enough dry wood to last you over winter. Are you living out in the sticks.

Yes, you could say that, 3d! Lots of sticks! We have to travel 15 kms. to the closest little store, but to shop for groceries we have to drive 67 kms. to Renfrew (town), Ontario. We're about 80 kms from the Quebec border, in southern Eastern Ontario. We live in one of the largest counties in Ontario also named Renfrew... We don't have cell phone service where we are... out in the sticks indeed! :-))

lol little sticks indeed Lori those trees are not little. ? How wonderful you live out there its good to a have a store not as far as your main shopping place 40 miles is quite far for a main shoping place to shop but you have positive points fresh air no polution wild life and a lovely place and peace and quiteness.

How will you remove the root Lori ,do you have chains and a truck to pull it out ? The rock itself looks reasonably level , I can see your collection of rocks at the ready :o)

We have the darkest skies in southern Ontario, 3d... we really should have a working observatory.
I don't have the heavy equipment, Amy. So far I've been getting as much of the soil and small feeder roots out then pry bars...and maybe see if my friends will bring their tractor over to help pull out the rest. There's an even bigger pile of rocks just to the left of this one! I am prepared! lol...

I would find it depressing if its dark a lot there Lori yes a working observatory would be good.

Sorry Dawn.. I should have said "clear skies".. No streetlights to reflect off of cloud... I will be able to sit in my "observatory" with an unobstructed view of the Milky Way... Sleeping is great...no noise, no extra lights, air traffic or anything... Each time I go "up the hill" I sit down on a log and just listen to the wind in the treetops, the chatter of squirrels rustling about in the leaves, the chirp of birds and the noise of bluejays and rooks and crows and the woodpecker crews!
"My Blue Heaven"... :-))
