A common, very tall and invasive type of grass. Looks like bamboo, but isn't.

This one just spreads as much as it can. At least the pampas grass stays in one clump. Fortunately, it goes through the chipper/shredder really well.

Do you mind it spreading ?

Yes. It is nearly impossible to eradicate. It will destroy walls, and if I don't stay on top of it, it will close the paths I have to get around.

Have you tried Jays Fluid.

I have no idea what Jays Fluid is - it isn't sold here. Plus they now have new rules that in order to buy strong weed killers, you have to go to a class and pass a test to get a certificate in order to buy them. It hasn't changed the misuse of weed killers, but it did create a couple of new jobs and fees for the class and certificate.

Jeys fluid is a disinfectant I have poured it on the root of a Yucca to prevent it coming back it also kills weeds..

Arundo?

Yes, that's the one.

My goodness that Arundo when looking it show fields of it. I can now see what you mean how invasive it is. I would kill it off with creosote and Jeys Fluid or rock salt

The only cure that I have found is digging it up--only slightly easier than with bamboo. Fortunately, around here it only multiplies around water sources: irrigation ditches, leaky pipes, etc.

It does make a good mulch, so it all gets cut down every year and run through the chipper/shredder. I am starting to get a little less every year.

If you can cut it twice a year, it will eventually starve out the rhizomes...except for those on your neighbor's land! :/
