Arbutus. (Arbutus xalapensis (Mexican Mandrone))

Their was an old comic page character named Gordo. One character was named "Trailing Arbutus". Have no idea why-lol.

It might be a Manzanita. At first,Arbutus...then Madrone was kicked around on another board..now back to some kind of old Manzanita.
There were two..this was the more photogenic.

The wind must have blown it over and it kept on growing.

I've seen a few plumeria trees here like this. It's not as attractive for a plumeria tree. I would cut the tree down and replant it upright. lol.

Its leaning west come to think of it. I notice Penny the dead foliage. My guess? It grew on regular water in that park, then the parks decided it might be best to not give it any summer water as they do in the wilds of California.
But,once you get a plant used to irrigation..its going to drop some leaves in hot dry weather. That could be the 108f damage we had on Sept 1st.

So winds have blown it from the east then yes lack of water when leaves fall.

That really strange it would be leaning west. The prevailing winds blow from the west. I do know that the strongest winds do blow from the north-east, though.
