. . . not so sheltered or private now!

What I forgot to say in my message Sheila was to repeat a comment my friend said when we discussed privacy from overlooking windows , which was - not really a problem because neighbours don't spend much time looking out of bedroom windows. It is a reassuring remark and very realistic, as after I've got up, I don't go back in my bedroom until bedtime.

You could be right Dawn. In fact we actually met those neighbours today (apparently they were delighted that someone was "at last" pruning the apple trees between our gardens) They are lovely people, so I wouldn't imagine they are in the least nosy.

I think Dawn is right about the windows,Sheila..you won't even notice them eventually..and I'm so glad you seem to have nice neighbours..that is such a relief, and a feel good factor :o)

Thank you Sandra - yes, it's a big help to have met them. Good neighbours are so important :)

Sure are, they've probably been worried about who was moving in too. Keep us updated on your planting scheme.

Dawn, I'm having fun mentally buying plants, but until I've met up with the designer for a chat, I won't be buying too many. I'm having to be patient as the garden won't be built until January . . . but that's OK as we'll be in New Zealand with the grandchildren until Christmas!

Wow!!! How exciting. You have a good time in NZ, it sounds very exciting. Youll have to put a blog up to establish members must have plants :-)

Because of the windows overlooking us at the back we are now thinking of ways to restore our privacy . . .
