We took a stroll by the river and I don't think I've ever seen so many Canada Geese altogether on the river. Some of them were having a wash and I wondered if it was a stopover point to wherever they were going.

We have fields full of Canada geese, thousands of them, they return here every year...

I love seeing them flying over DD. The wildlife must be struggling in America with all the weather at the moment.

I suppose that these big strong birds can upsticks and get away from a big freeze up by flying south. We only get unusual birds in the garden during a really bad winter. There was a fantastic film on TV of Cranes flying near Everest, and waiting for warmer air to raise them high enough to gain height.

Hi Dorjac, You mentioned about Cranes, we saw a programme...Countryfile... where a farmer, living on the Somerset levels, had given over some of his land to go wild and Cranes started to come to it and now there are about twenty.
