You're right Wylie. When things start to appear we gardeners get so excited. My grandchildren think it's hilarious how excited I get when baby plants appear in a seed tray.

Oh wow, how exciting. Inside or outdoors?

Outside Siris. It was only ever inside as a very young plant. When it was about 18ins high it went out of the greenhouse and has been ever since, as are the white flowered variety. No buds on them yet but last year they were quite a bit behind the red so I'm hopeful.

Is this the red then? Looking at the buds I really thought it was a white one. I must look at my red one tomorrow.

So pleased you photographed your developing flowers, it's prompted me to look carefully at my plant and.... I have 5 shoots, each with tiny 1/2" flower spikes.

Yes, it's the red one Siris. It's much bigger than the two white ones. Glad you've got something at last. As they grow you'll see the edges turn to red as the buds start to open.

I am so excited. My plant is in a large pot as snails do seem to like the new terminal shoots.

It is getting close to the most exciting time of year: when buds start showing up. I know my Ferraria is getting ready to bloom, so I am out there eye-balling it every day.
