This flowering mango tree had its flowering spikes starting to come up at the end of December. It's been in full flower for the last month. Photo taken in San Diego, CA. on Feb. 28, 2018.

It actually has one main trunk. I got a very good look at the trunk. It has a really thick main trunk.
I discovered this tree back in Feb. of 2002. It was smaller; however, it had a pretty good shape already at the time. I'm not sure if the owner trims it back at all. I'm guessing it could be maybe about 25 to 30 years old (based on the size of the big main trunk).

That's all you can eat. Their friends must get bags of them.
I'm just on the very edge of getting them to grow here. This year was near frost free..that helps.

Back in 2016 this tree had three crops of mangoes. I had never seen that her before.
I'm sure that 50' mango tree I discovered back in 2016 did that same thing (I'm guessing). I have to find that mango tree again, so I can take some photos of it. It was the tallest and largest mango tree I've ever seen growing here in San Diego.
I think in areas of the SF Bay area that receive hotter summers and are mostly frost-free mango trees should grow pretty well. I think South Oakland to San Jose should be good to grow them.

btw...I looked and saw where Accuweather Andy, was giving some wrong lows..down to 28,29,and a 30 or two. Never happened.
Not that 33f is sunbathing weather..but at one hour of it and only that..not the damage that days of below freezing would do.
Near 70f today and tomorrow..like we are backing into milder for good. The lows in the high 30's are gone..now its 40's and up. Still at least one or two big storms in track to get here.

The only way it could have recorded temps that low is if the weather recording sensors are closer to the ground. Official weather stations are 5 or 6 feet off the ground.
It's been really nice and warm here. lows temps are back in the lower 50's now. Yay!
